Test and Trace

The Test and Trace Support Payment scheme offers financial support if you meet the qualifying criteria and will suffer a financial loss after being told you must self-isolate by the NHS test and trace system. Details of eligibility and how to claim are available on our dedicated page

Self-isolation - Are you ready?

Anyone with Covid-19 symptoms or a positive test result should stay at home and self-isolate immediately. If you need to self-isolate, make sure you’re prepared from the beginning:

Food

If you're self-isolating, you shouldn't go shopping, so consider how you would get food if you needed it -have a backup plan.

Talk to neighbours, friends or relatives in advance and ask if they could shop for you if needed. Register for online delivery if you can so you’re ready to order should you need it.  If you don’t have internet access, is there someone you know who does that could do this for you?

It’s a good idea to plan your meals ahead so you know whether you have enough food to last you, as well as any family members or pets.

Medication and Essentials

Make sure you have enough medication for you and anyone you live with.

If you’re running low, or you need to collect a prescription, ask a neighbour, friend or relative or relative to pick it up and bring it to your house.  Have this conversation in advance so you know who to ask.

Alternatively, order online in plenty of time.

Check you have enough soap, toiletries, and cleaning products to get by.

Dependants

If you care for another adult, talk to a trusted person who could take over your care responsibilities if needed, or contact your council’s Adult Social Care on Leicestershire County Council 0116 305 0004.

If you have children that need taking to school and picking up, do you have a trusted person who can do this for you? Lots of parents/guardians will be in the same situation so have the conversation in advance.

Pets

During self-isolation you won’t be able to exercise your dog yourself, anywhere except your own garden.

Talk to neighbours, friends or relatives in advance and find out who could do this for you.

Finances

If you pay bills in person consider how you will do this if you are isolating, can it be carried out over the phone, online or do you have a trusted person who can do it for you?

If necessary, when isolating inform the companies or services of your situation as soon as possible.

Mental health

Look after yourself and don’t be afraid to ask for help if you need it. Visit nhs.uk for mental health and wellbeing advice.
