Results of the 2003 Best Value Satisfaction Survey
Crime and fear of crime are the biggest issues for local people. This is the outcome of the largest-ever survey of public opinion ever undertaken by North West Leicestershire District Council.
Nearly 3000 local people responded to the Best Value Satisfaction Survey. They ranked a low level of crime as the most important thing in making somewhere a good place to live and the level of crime as the thing that most needs improving.
In fact, the level of crime came second in the list of things that people thought had got worse over the last three years, even though most official statistics show that crime is falling.
The other big issues for local people were health services, clean streets, shopping facilities and affordable housing.
The results of the survey will help guide council priorities and will also be shared with local partnerships.
