Customer Charter
North West Leicestershire District Council encourages people with disabilities to use our leisure centres, by considering their leisure needs and providing a positive experience.
Our intent is:
To consult regularly with disabled groups and individuals on the service provided.
To ensure that all front-line staff are trained in disability awareness and are sensitive to individual customer needs.
To provide and maintain equipment to make the centres accessible to disabled people, including provision of disabled parking bays, automatic entry and exit doors, disabled toilets and changing facilities, shower seats, pool access steps, pool hoist, loan wheelchairs and hearing loops in reception areas.
To take positive action for people with disabilities and carers, for example dedicated swimming sessions free of charge.
To by prior arrangement, to aid people with disabilities from the car park to the centre.
To provide a safe and welcoming environment, for example a security guard on duty during evening periods.
To provide comprehensive information on availavble activities, including large print and audio tape versions for the visually impaired when required.
To ensure all future developments and refurbishments comply fully with good practice and relevant guidelines.
