Keep Fit in North West Leicestershire – Without Hitting Your Back Pocket

Date of Release: Tue 24th January, 2012

North West Leicestershire’s Hermitage and Hood Park Leisure Centres have introduced a number of initiatives in response to the financial pressures currently being faced by its leisure centre users and potential new users.

Activity prices at both leisure centres have been frozen at 2011 rates. All fitness classes are still £5 a class, and Active Fitness Plus and Aqua direct debit memberships and swim sessions are all staying at the 2011 rates. Local residents receiving means tested benefits can also take advantage of free swimming.

In addition, if you’re worried about keeping up the cost of exercising you can join the Leisure Link scheme. Membership runs from 1st April 2012 until 31st March next year, and all members benefit from a discount of approximately 25 percent in comparison to full adult prices. Anyone living in the District can join – just pick up an application form at any of North West Leicestershire’s leisure facilities and return it with the small £5 joining fee.

Or if you’ve got a group of colleagues who want to keep fit, you can set up a corporate membership at either Hermitage or Hood Park Leisure Centre – all you need is four employees in your company who want to join. 40 companies are already registered, with over 250 employees taking advantage of 25 percent off Active Fitness Plus and Aqua Fitness membership packages. Councillor Alison Smith, Deputy Leader of North West Leicestershire District Council and Portfolio Holder for Community Services, said: “We are pleased to be offering these competitive prices for local residents, helping them to maintain healthy and active lifestyles whilst providing good value for money.”
