Families that just love to be beside the seaside need look no further than their doorsteps this August as Coalville by the Sea returns.
The grass area at Needhams Walk will transform into a sand-filled coastal scene at this free North West Leicestershire District Council event on Friday 4 August.
A giant sandpit, sponsored by Coalville family builders merchant P&R Building Supplies, will be filled with buckets and spades to provide hours of fun for children who can dig, build and bury between 11am and 4pm.
When not building sandcastles, families can enjoy entertainment including Pinxton Puppets, balloon modelling, face painting, a bubbleologist, bouncy castle, music and lots of games organised by the council’s leisure team.
There will also be refreshments on sale including plenty of ice cream!
Music will be provided by Hermitage FM and all people need bring is something to sit on – and plenty of sun cream if the sun is shining.
Councillor Alison Smith MBE, Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Community Services at North West Leicestershire District Council, said: “There’s nothing better than a family day out at the beach, especially when the beach comes to you.
“Coalville by the Sea is a very popular annual event and another fun-filled day is planned for Friday 4 August. Bring along your family and friends and enjoy a great, free day out.
“A huge thank you this year to P&R Building Supplies who have sponsored all the sand used on our beach this year.
“The district council is committed to bringing exciting, free events to the town as part of our Choose Coalville project, and we look forward to seeing lots of faces at the event.”
Lee Glover, Managing Director at P&R Building Supplies, said: “Coalville by the Sea is an event that brings together the local community, which includes many of our customers, and so we are delighted to be sponsoring the sand.
“We will be funding a huge five tonnes of sand to recreate the seaside scene for everyone to enjoy. We are grateful to all our customers in Coalville and this is our way of giving something back to the community.”
Needhams Walk can be found between Belvoir Road and the town centre car park off High Street, Coalville.
