Runners, joggers and walkers have just two weeks to secure their place in the fun-filled Coalville Colour Run.
On Sunday 17 September hundreds of people will head to the colour run start line to support Leicestershire-based charity Living Without Abuse (LWA).
Registration has just been re-opened by the charity to allow extra time for runners to sign up, with the new closing date on Thursday 14 September.
The streets and parks of Coalville will become a sea of colour as runners are take on the 5km course with their family and friends. The day will end with a free party in Coalville Park for local people and participants.
LWA is organising the popular event, with North West Leicestershire District Council (NWLDC) as the main sponsor, and people of all ages and abilities encouraged to take part.
More than 500 people took part in the inaugural Colour Run last year raising £10,000 for charity in the process.
This year the event has been expanded to 1,000 places in an effort to raise even more for the charity, which supports children and adults who have suffered from domestic violence in the Leicestershire area.
Participants can register to run online at www.giving-back.co.uk/coalville-colour-run.asp
Gina King, Head of Fund-raising at Living Without Abuse, said: “The Coalville Colour Run will soon be upon us and if it is anything like last year it will be a hugely fun, colourful and exciting day for all involved.
“The money raised last year made a massive difference to us and the support we can offer those escaping domestic violence in the county. If we can do even better this year it would be fantastic.
“If you’re not running, but fancy getting involved, there are plenty of volunteering opportunities on the day – just get in touch.”
Councillor Alison Smith MBE, Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Community Services at NWLDC, said: “We are very proud to sponsor the Coalville Colour Run and are looking forward to another hugely fun day.
“The run fits in with our Choose Coalville priority as we look to reinvigorate and re-energise the town, and it will be fantastic to see hundreds of faces taking part again.
“It is great that the money raised all goes to such a worthwhile charity too. I’d encourage everyone to get behind this event and enjoy a great day out in Coalville.”
The Colour Run is an approximately 5km course that will take place in and around the centre of Coalville, starting at the Market Hall car park , running alongside the precinct, over to Coalville Town Football Club, taking in Snibston Country Park and the Coalville Forest Adventure Park, passing Memorial Square and finishing in Coalville Park.
Colour stations dotted around the route will blast runners with colour. Everyone (including those who haven’t done the run) is then invited to a finish line paint party in Coalville Park, including live music, various local business stalls, and food.
