Local Running Group Seeks New Recruits
BUDDING joggers are being urged to dig out their running shoes and join one of the areas most successful Run in England beginners groups.
Whitwick based Hermitage Harriers are re- launching their 'JogIt' session for the New Year. Since July last year the group has helped over 50 local residents get back on their feet, with several progressing in to the club as a result. The group continue to meet every Tuesday from 7pm onwards at the Hermitage Leisure Centre. The group is ideal for beginners, regardless of age, shape or size and only costs £1 per session.
The group would also suit returning runners wanting to regain their fitness after an injury lay off or a significant time away from exercise as well as those targeting a charity race later in the year such as Sport Relief and Race for Life.
Andrew Harris JogIt Hermitage Group Leader said “JogIt Hermitage provides an ideal platform for beginners to ease themselves in to regular running. The group is very sociable and there is no expectation or pressure to meet any requirements in order to participate”
JogIt graduate Claire Benson stated 'Since joining the JogIt Hermitage group, I have met some lovely new people, with the same interest. Everyone is friendly and the instructors are brilliant-very helpful and motivating. I enjoy running and have found the different techniques of 'warming up' & 'cooling down' especially helpful, some of which I was unaware of before. Another reason I enjoy going, is that it motivates me to carry on running on a regular basis'
The group is one of many national Run England groups supported by England Athletics that run up and down the country every week.
