Changes to 2013 Building Regulations
We expect the Department of Communities and Local Government to consult on a number of changes to Building Regulations and Approved Documents in the coming months. We do not expect these to be implemented until 2013, but of particular interest will be the new energy efficiency requirements of Part L.
Transfer of Ownership of Your Shared Drains to the Water Companies
From the 1st October 2011 most privately owned shared drains transfered to the water authority (Severn Trent Water Ltd), and became "public sewers". We have not yet had any instruction from the Government as to how this will impact on the requirements of the Building Regulations, other than it is assumed there will be joint responsibilty to approve new drainage systems with the Water Authority.
For further information on the transfer of your drains to the water authority, please contact Severn Trent Water Ltd direct either on telephone number 0845 600 7405, or visit their website http://www.stwater.co.uk/server.php?show=nav.6411.
