Community Safety
The Safer North West Partnership brings together a number of agencies to reduce crime and disorder in the District. The partnership is made up of a number of organisations including the District and County Council, Police, Fire & Rescue Service, Youth Service, Probation and housing associations amongst others. By working together and sharing information, resources can be targeted more effectively where they are needed.
Our vision is to work together with those who live, work and visit North West Leicestershire to maintain and improve pride in our communities. This year the partnership will focus on three key priorities;
- Tackling Crime
- Further reducing Anti-Social Behaviour
- Supporting Pride in Our Communities.
Over the past year the partnership has been successful in driving down crime and disorder with theft and violent crime numbers both down in the district. Anti-social behaviour has seen the greatest decrease and is down this year by almost a third. One way this has been achieved is through the success of our Joint Action Group (JAG). This group is made up of individuals from across the partnership who meet monthly to decide actions which address emerging crime trends, problem locations and perpetrators.
