Conservation of the Historic Environment
The historic environment makes an essential contribution to an attractive and thriving place and its protection and enhancement is an important role of the planning system.
The Council's Conservation Officer provides advice and support to planning officers and to the residents of North West Leicestershire on all matters relating to the historic built environment.
Formal protection is provided in a number of ways through the development control process. Individual buildings are protected as Listed Buildings and historic areas as Conservation Areas. Click on each to get more information.
Other designations covering the historic environment include Scheduled Ancient Monuments and Historic Parks and Gardens
