The following Customer Charter for people with disabilities has been adopted by North West Leicestershire District Council.

Statement of Intent

  • To consult regularly with disabled groups and individuals on the service provided
  • To ensure that all front-line staff are trained in disability awareness and are sensitive to individual customer needs
  • To provide and maintain equipment to make the centres accessible to disabled people, including provision of disabled parking bays, automatic entry and exit doors, disabled toilets and changing facilities, shower seats, pool access steps, pool hoist, loan wheelchairs and hearing loops in reception areas
  • To take positive action for people with disabilities and carers (e.g dedicated swimming sessions free of charge)
  • To aid people with disabilities from the car park to the centre (by prior arrangement)
  • To provide a safe and welcoming environment, for example a security guard on duty during evening periods
  • To provide comprehensive information on available activities (large print and audio tape versions available for the visually impaired)
  • To ensure all future developments and refurbishments comply fully with good practice and relevant guidelines

We encourage people with disabilities to use our leisure centres, by considering their leisure needs and providing a positive experience.
