Data Protection Notice
Information provided by you, including any supporting evidence you send to the Council in order to help process requests for services will be held and used by North West Leicestershire District Council in line with the Data Protection Act 1998.
We may pass your information to other agencies or organisations as allowed or required by law.
The information you have provided may also be checked with other information already held in departments in order to provide you with the service or response you require.
Other agencies, organisations, local authorities or government departments may be asked to provide any information they have about you for the purposes of:-
- Making sure information is accurate
- Prevention and detection of crime
- Protection of public funds.
North West Leicestershire District Council will not give information about you to anyone else, or use information about you for any other purposes, unless the law allows us to.

What Sorts of Information does NWLDC Hold?
NWLDC holds various types of information in order to provide a wide range of continuously improving services to the people of North West Leicestershire. Some of the types of information we hold include:
- Names and addresses
- Telephone numbers
- E-mail addresses
- CCTV images
- Images of people
- Expressions of public opinion
- Complaints files and the complainants’ details
- Records of current / ex members of staff who have completed training courses
In order to ensure that the people of North West Leicestershire receive the services they need, and particularly where the service provision is partly or completely provided by another authority, it is sometimes necessary for us to share personal information with other organisations. In line with (particularly) the first of the Data Protection Principles, this data sharing needs to be carefully controlled in order to remain legal and fair.
