Learn to Swim Scheme

Learn to Swim sessions are held at Hermitage Leisure Centre, Hood Park Leisure Centre and Ibstock Leisure Complex. The Learn to Swim scheme offers any age or ability the best opportunity to develop their swimming skills with qualified instructors. Each course is 12 weeks in length. If you are interested in private swimming lessons, then Hermitage, Hood Park and Ibstock can also offer these. Applying to join the learn to swim scheme could not be easier and can be done using the online form. We will contact you once a place becomes available.

June half term Learn to Swim Crash Courses on offer NOW

From Monday 4^th June, Hood Park Leisure Centre will be offering a week long learn to swim crash course for children. Classes will be held Monday to Friday from 9-9.30am and the one week crash course will cost only £25.This set of classes is suitable for children who are complete begineers and places do go quickly so please call NOW for more information by contacting Hood Park Leisure Centre on 01530 412181 or email hoodparklc@nwleicestershire.gov.uk.

Please contact Ibstock Leisure Complex directly for details and prices of their Learn to Swim programme which runs to The National Plan in 10 week courses. Group lessons start from age 3 through to competitive stages. We also run Aqua Tots, an Adult and child session for ages birth to 3 years.

Swim Club Link

Once your child has reached level nine or above on our learn to swim scheme then they will be given the opportunity to take part in a 12-week swim club link course. The aim of these sessions are to help young swimmers make the transition from the learn to swim programme to more competitive swimming. The course costs £51.60 and is held at Hood Park Leisure Centre every from Friday from 6pm-7pm and Hermitage Leisure Centre every Monday from 6pm-7pm and Mondays and Wednesdays from 6.30pm-7.30pm. Elements covered during the swim club link sessions include:

Relay and handover practices
Stamina development
Starts and turns
Diving techniques
Time trials

Adult Swimming Lessons at Hermitage, Hood Park Leisure Centres and Ibstock Leisure Complex

If you are looking to build your water confidence and learn how to swim why not come along to our adult swimming lessons. One to one lessons are available at Hood Park Leisure Centres on Monday mornings 9-12am and Friday mornings 9-12am. Group lessons are available at Hermitage on Wednesday mornings from 9am and at Ibstock Leisure Complex on Thursdays 12.00 - 1.00 pm.

Important Information

Teachers will be allocated dependent upon availability.
Private swimming lessons do not automatically guarantee entry onto the Learn to Swim Scheme.
All lessons at Hood Park Leisure Centre will take place in the learner pool.
