Planning Policy

The Planning Policy Team is within the Environment Directorate of the Council and is responsible for producing the statutory planning policy framework which will guide future land use planning in North West Leicestershire.

The main focus of work for the Planning Policy Team is the production of the Local Development Framework (LDF) which will replace the adopted North West Leicestershire District Local Plan. The LDF system requires local authorities to produce a number of new documents, this is an ongoing process with new documents being drafted, consulted upon and published.

Other functions include the preparation of Supplementary Planning Documents, housing and employment land monitoring and providing policy advice to the Council’s Development Control Team. Further details of the work areas of the team can be found by clicking on the menu on the left of the screen.
