Recycling, Rubbish and Waste
The Council provides a comprehensive kerbside recycling service and currently recycles over 45% of the waste collected. In this section you will find lots of information and fun facts about reducing, reusing and recycling in North West Leicestershire, so have a look around and feel free to contact us with any questions or queries.
45% is a really good recycling rate, it means that NWLDC is way above the national average, and it goes to prove how much our residents like to recycle. The recycling service we offer is very comprehensive, and over 60% of residents' waste could be recycled in the scheme, which means we have plenty of room for improvement over the next few years.
We have different containers for different materials and we do this to make sure the quality of the material collected is always the best quality and obtains the most value. All of our material goes to reprocessors in the UK, which means there is less travelling for the materials before they are recycled, saving both CO2 emissions and money.
