This is a wonderful example of how a disused opencast working can be transformed into a woodland and wildlife haven. The 150 acre site contains woodland, lakes, grassland and a wildflower meadow. With 150 bird species recorded and bird-hide, it is excellent for birdwatchers. Surfaced trails provide access for walkers, cyclists, riders and disabled visitors. A varied events programme runs from this site.
