Snibston is Leicestershire's award winning tourist attraction. Built on the 100 acre site of the former Snibston Colliery, visitors have the opportunity to explore and learn about a unique mixture of science, nature, history and technology. The museum galleries explore the industrial heritage of Leicestershire including the transport, extractives, engineering, textiles and fashion industries. Outside visitors can enjoy the 'Science Play' area, ride Pitt the diesel locomotive, or take a tour with a Miner. A lively guided Colliery Tour by ex-miners will fascinate the whole family with the everyday life as a miner at Snibston Colliery. An audio tour is also available.
With lots to discover, inside and out, Snibston will inspire people of all ages and help you to understand more about the amazing world in which we live.
See website for opening times and admission charges.
Disabled visitors: Access around the whole site, guide dogs welcome, wheelchairs available for hire (no charge), specially adapted toilets and parking area, Braille information cards in galleries, 'touch' exhibits.
