Social Events and Activities

North West Leicestershire District Council encourages customers to have their say about what goes on in their area or within their service. Some areas within the district have tenants association groups set up and these are especially popular within Supported Housing.

Tenants have the opportunity to participate in a range of activities which differ from scheme to scheme. Please ask for details.

Over the last 12 months the Older Persons Service team has provided support and encouraged tenants to take part in computer lessons, healthy eating sessions, chemist sales, walks led by guides, fish and chip lunches, scone and tea afternoons for Easter, and strawberries and cream for the yearly Wimbledon tennis championships.

Throughout 2009/10, tenants have also continued to run their own weekly bingo clubs, coffee mornings, dominoes sessions, church services and luncheons.

With 2011 now here, North West Leicestershire District Council is looking to continue working in partnership with tenants/customers, specialist service providers and older people within the local community to deliver a programme of events throughout 2011/12 across the district.

The Older Persons Service team also invites all our residents to participate in putting together the quarterly Social Activities newsletters, where residents can find all fun, interesting, and informative articles that they can share with others.

We are always trying to think of new and exciting events for our tenants/customers plus friends and family members to participate in and any ideas are more than welcomed by our friendly team of staff.

If you have any ideas that you would like to put forward or know of any volunteers who can help with the running of these events, please contact the Older Persons Services team on 01530 454640. They will be happy to hear from you!
