Why we do it
Living in a cleaner, greener community is something we all strice to achieve. Street cleansing plays a large part of this, as we all notice how clean the streets are. Although most residents are considerate and take litter home with them or use the hundreds of bins plaed around the district, some people do not. The litter created by these people makes the area look unsightly, clearing litter and making the local area clean is what we work to do everyday.
Under the EPA 1990 (Environmental Protection Act) we, the district council, have a legal duty to clear litter and refuse, as far as practicable possible from public places, for which we are directly responsible. These include, streets, car parks, recreation areas, pedestrian areas and grass verges.
