Sure Start Learning Centres
Leicestershire County Council in partnership with North West Leicestershire District Council has developed seven new children's centres for under 5's and their families. Follow this link to find out more about Surestart Children's Centres
What Are Surestart Children's Centres?
SureStart Children's Centres are national programmes for under-fives and their parents. They have been developed to improve health, learning and other outcomes for all pre-school children - and particularly for babies, younger children and parents who need additional help and support.
How Can Children's Centres Help You?
Children's centres will bring a range of different services into the community, giving parents easier access to information and support. By visiting a children's centre, you will be able to find out more about:
- Health services
- Voluntary organisations
- District councils' services
- Family outreach workers
- JobCentre Plus services
- Early reading and library services
- Early Learning services
- The Family Information Service
Who Can Use Children's Centres?
Children's centres are open to all children under five and their parents, although staff may sometimes have to limit the number of people who can attend "open access" services in order to meet safety regulations.
Some children's centre services are by invitation only, or are for parents and families experiencing certain difficulties and in need of extra support.
Extended Services
In North West Leicsetershire there are 4 extended school co-ordinators working with clusters of schools based around Ibstock, Coalville, Ashby de la Zouch and Castle Donington. Follow this link for more information about Extended Services
