What are Sure Start children's centres?

SureStart children's centres have been developed to improve health, learning and other outcomes for all pre-school children - and particularly for babies, younger children and parents who need additional help and support.

There are eight in North West Leicestershire - in Ashby, Coalville, Ibstock, Measham, Moira, Castle Donington, Thringstone, and Warren Hills. Find your nearest Sure Start centre on the county council's website.

How can children's centres help you?

Children's centres will bring a range of different services into the community, giving parents easier access to information and support. By visiting a children's centre, you will be able to find out more about:

  • Health services
  • Voluntary organisations
  • District councils' services
  • Family outreach workers
  • Job Centre Plus services
  • Early reading and library services
  • Early Learning services
  • The Family Information Service.

Who can use children's centres?

All Leicestershire  families who have a child aged 0 to 5 years old are able to access support and advice from Sure Start Children’s Centres - some services will be targeted and restricted to families with additional needs.

What's on, where and when?

From activity sessions and baby massage to health checks and ante-natal advice, there's lots to get involved with across the district.
