Issued on behalf of BWML Midlands Marinas (Sawley, Kings and Diglis)
During the weekend of 14 and 15 April 2018 Sawley Marina were pleased to host its fifth market, which was officially opened by North West Leicestershire District Council Chief Executive, Bev Smith.
The event proved to be a huge success with in the region of 2,000 and 3,000 attending over the two days. Not only does this allow for the general public to enjoy a local event it also allows anyone looking at entering the boating world to see the facilities at one of the UK’s most busiest and centrally located marinas. There was the opportunity to find out what it’s like to live on the water or use the marina as a base for a leisure boat.
The organisers welcomed Bev Smith, Chief Executive of North West Leicestershire District Council to officially open the market. As part of the RYA Active marinas programme which is led by BWML’s Training Manager Barry Glanville, Bev and her husband enjoyed a short cruise along the River Trent aboard the “Little Gem”, BWML’s school boat.
Julie Cutts, Marina Manager for BWML Marinas, said: "Bev spent a good while with us and took the time to speak with our stall holders and other attendees. This included Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service who provided a water safety display.
"Our thanks go out to all participants for making the weekend a huge success, and we hope to see you all at our next event which will be the Christmas Market on 1 and 2 December."
