Small construction businesses can learn of funding opportunities

A breakfast meeting is to provide construction businesses an overview of available construction work in the district, as well as the opportunities for training and funding.

The event for Leicestershire based businesses is being jointly hosted by North West Leicestershire District Council (NWLDC), Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council (HBBC) and the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB). 

It is free of charge to attend and will include information around the following topics: 

  • Training and funding opportunities
  • Construction work available in the area
  • The Leicestershire Employment HUB
  • CITB training and grants. 

The breakfast meeting takes place on Tuesday 3 July from 7.30am until 10am at Markfield Community Centre Mayflower Close, LE67 9ST.

Councillor Tony Gillard, Portfolio Holder for Business at NWLDC, said. “This is an excellent opportunity for small construction businesses to network and access key information that could be a real boost to them. Along with our partners, NWLDC is committed to supporting small businesses in our district so that they can grow and thrive. 

Councillor Miriam Surtees, Executive Member for town & urban communities, regeneration & growth, children's & young people's services at HBBC, said: “HBBC is keen to provide opportunities for training and employment so I am pleased to support this event which will allow businesses to benefit from the knowledge and information that CITB can provide.” 

Richard Thorpe from the CITB said: “This is a great opportunity for smaller and medium sized local businesses to hear about the support available within Leicestershire, to upskill their current workforce and attract a new generation of construction workers, into the industry. CITB are working to address the current skills gap and pleased to collaborate with North West Leicestershire and Hinckley and Bosworth Council’s which will increase the awareness and uptake in the support available. We look forward to supporting more of these events in the future.”
