Fund-raisers have just one more week to get themselves signed up for the annual Coalville Colour Run.
The popular family-friendly event takes places in the town on the morning of Sunday 16 September, with runners’ registration fees going straight to Leicestershire based charity Living Without Abuse (LWA).
At several points along the route, volunteers will cannon paint of all different colours onto runners and walkers, while onlookers and marshals cheer them on.
Registration for the colour run will close on Thursday 13 September. To sign up visit www.lwa.org.uk/events/coalville-colour-run.asp
The run is organised by Living Without Abuse and benefits from a £2,500 grant from North West Leicestershire District Council through its Choose Coalville scheme, and is also supported by a number of local businesses.
The charity works to support children and adults who have suffered from domestic violence in the Leicestershire area.
Last year 650 runners helped raise over £8,000 for LWA, and the charity is hoping to do even better this year.
Gina King, Head of Fund-raising at Living Without Abuse, said: “The Coalville Colour Run is a very important fund-raiser for us and allows us to support people in Leicestershire that are suffering both physical and mental domestic abuse.
“We’re incredibly grateful to everyone takes part and we know from previous years that the runners have a truly brilliant time. So, get signed up before 13 September and we’ll see you at the start line ready for colour run fun!”
Councillor Alison Smith MBE, Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Community Services at NWLDC, said: “We’re proud to support the Coalville Colour Run and help bring this exciting event to the town.
“It is huge fun and I’d encourage anyone thinking about taking part to get signed up. Run, jog or walk it’s an exciting day for all the family, and you’ll be raising money for a wonderful charity just by being there!”
The Colour Run is an approximately 5km course that will take place in and around the centre of Coalville, starting at the Market Hall car park , running alongside the precinct, over to Coalville Town Football Club, taking in Snibston Country Park and the Urban Forest Adventure Park, passing Memorial Square and finishing in Coalville Park.
