Everyone Active contract signing - May 2019

Everyone Active has taken over management of Hood Park and Hermitage Leisure Centres after contracts were signed last week.

In a new partnership between North West Leicestershire District Council (NWLDC) and the Hinckley-based leisure operator, the district’s two main leisure centres will be managed by Everyone Active for the next 25 years.

The new site will be located approximately one mile away from the existing centre and boast a large gym and studios, an 8-lane 25 metre swimming pool, an 8-court sports hall and a health suite with a steam room, sauna and spa pool.

Building work on the new centre is due to begin in late 2019 and open autumn 2021.

Planning permission will be needed for the new Coalville Leisure Centre, which is due to be built on council-owned land off the A511 Stephenson Way, opening in 2021.

In the short term customers will notice new booking processes and uniforms, although the staff and the facilities will be the same.

Bev Smith, Chief Executive of North West Leicestershire District Council, said: “Our partnership with Everyone Active will see fantastic improvements in our leisure centres that will help more people across the district to live active, healthy lifestyles.

“The well-being of our residents is at the heart of this partnership, which will see a fantastic refurbishment of the leisure centre at Ashby and a top of the range, brand new centre in Coalville.

“This is an historic moment for our council, as we have never partnered with another organisation in this way. I would like to thank everyone – staff, customers and those at Everyone Active – who have worked hard to make this a very smooth process. We’re all looking forward to seeing the improvements that are made at both sites and across the district in the health of local people.”

Dan Hicks, Everyone Active’s Area Contract Manager, said: “We’re thrilled to be welcomed into the community to manage leisure facilities in the area and begin our official partnership with NWLDC including a fantastic new leisure centre.

“Embarking on a new chapter with all colleagues from the centres is incredibly exciting for us, and we’re looking forward to them joining the Everyone Active family, as well as helping more people to improve their health and wellbeing by getting active.”
