A feast of festive entertainment including a Spice Girls tribute act is lined up for the annual Christmas in Coalville celebration on Saturday 23 November.
The fun-filled day organised by North West Leicestershire District Council (NWLDC) and sponsored by Everyone Active, is packed with performances, activities and excitement, including the Christmas lights switch on and will end with the traditional spectacular fireworks display.
Headlining on stage and spicing up your life will be Spice Girls Experience – whose tribute performance will feature all the hits from the 90s Brit-pop girl band sensation.
Further performances on stage will come from the Leicestershire Co-op Band and the Bel Canto choir while the Belvoir Shopping Centre will feature entertainment from the Belvoirdale Primary School choir, pantomime characters and the Sing Out Choir.
Children will have the chance to meet Santa in his grotto and his friendly carrot-munching reindeer! They’ll also be able to ride the Santa Express train which will be steaming along Belvoir Road thanks to the North West Leicestershire Society of Model Engineers.
Shoppers will enjoy a food, drink and craft market in the Belvoir Shopping Centre whilst being entertained by live music, the Hermitage FM stage and street entertainers. Coalville Indoor Market will also have a range of festively decorated stalls to explore.
Mark Fiander, Head of Economic Regeneration at NWLDC, said: “Christmas in Coalville grows in popularity every year and with the sponsorship from Everyone Active this Christmas’ event promises to be better than ever.
“It’ll be great to see Coalville full of people getting into the Christmas spirit and supporting our local businesses. Get the date in your diaries, take advantage of the free parking, and have a brilliant day!”
Dan Hicks, Area Contract Manager at Everyone Active, said “We are thrilled to be supporting North West Leicestershire District Council’s annual Christmas in Coalville celebrations this year.
“It’s been a great first year for us, working in partnership with the council. We’re proud to be delivering improved leisure facilities to the local community, with renovations at Hood Park almost complete, and with planning granted for the new state-of-the-art Coalville Leisure Centre.
“The local community have been so welcoming, and we’re looking forward to celebrating the festive season together at this fantastic event.”
Parking in NWLDC car parks will be free throughout Saturday 23 November to encourage as many people as possible to attend.
