Students from Orchard Primary School wheelie excelling in annual Christmas Card competition

Two pupils from Orchard Primary School, in Castle Donington, have been presented with brand new bikes after winning a festive design competition on the theme of road safety.

Nina Muceli (Early Years, Green Apples Group) and Harley Andrew (year 5) both designed Christmas cards for the Safer North West Leicestershire Partnership and were crowned winners of the Celebrate Safely Christmas card competition. As winners they each receive a brand-new bike with helmets, and 2 runners up received a Conkers family pass. They will also have their card designs distributed across the district.

These budding artists were among 330 students that entered the competition with Sophie Green (year 3) and Lily Manley (year 6) being runners up and receiving the Conkers family pass. . All students that participated received a hi-visibility gift pack.

Officers from Leicestershire Police and Leicestershire Fire and Rescue chose the two winning designs to feature on the police’s Christmas card.

Councillor Michael Wyatt, Chair of the Safer North West Leicestershire Partnership, said: “It’s fantastic to see young people combining creativity with such an important message about road safety, especially during the festive season.

“The competition highlights the talent of our local students, and it’s wonderful to reward their hard work with something so special.
