North West Leicestershire joins Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British Spring Clean
Published: Wed 12 March, 2025
This year, there are over 800 volunteer litter pickers helping to keep North West Leicestershire clean and green, over 100 more volunteers than last year. North West Leicestershire District Council (NWLDC) provides all registered volunteers with litter grabbers, hi-vis jackets, and bin bags to support their efforts.
NWLDC is proud to once again support Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British Spring Clean, running from Friday 21 March to Sunday 6 April 2025.
Following last year’s successful campaign, the council are continuing their commitment to keeping the local communities clean and green. This includes:
- 2,000 litter bags for volunteers – people can claim their free litter-picking bags through Keep Britain Tidy by applying on our KBT webpage
- Support for volunteer litter pickers – residents across North West Leicestershire can register to receive a free litter grabber, hi-visibility vest, and collection bags by signing up on our KBT webpage
- Equipment loans for groups – litter-picking groups can borrow equipment during the campaign, but availability is limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Councillor Michael Wyatt, Portfolio Holder for Communities and Climate Change at NWLDC, said: "It’s fantastic to see so many volunteers stepping up to help keep North West Leicestershire clean and green.
“The Great British Spring Clean is a great opportunity for communities to come together and take pride in their local area.
“We are incredibly grateful to everyone taking part, and we’re proud to support their efforts with equipment and resources. Together, we can make a real difference."
