Government recently launched it’s Levelling Up Fund and invited 369 locations across the UK to submit applications by 18 June 2021.
The process is competitive and decisions are expected by the end of 2021.
North West Leicestershire District Council has submitted a bid centred on Coalville. The bid seeks funding for a multi-purpose arts and skills building, which we are currently referring to as Coalville Lyceum.
The Lyceum will provide:
- A base for college education and skills training
- A large flexible space for concerts, conferences and other events
- A four-screen facility for films
- A café
- An outside performance area.
And will be located within a redeveloped area of the Belvoir Shopping Centre.
The total grant funding sought by the project is £9m.
