December 2020 Tier 3 Grants
North West Leicestershire was placed into the very high alert covid level (tier 3) from 2 December and remained at that level when reviewed on 16 December 2020.
Government have provided North West Leicestershire District Council with funding for 3 grant schemes:
- Local Restrictions Support Grant (for businesses forced to close): this is for businesses that are still required to close to the public under tier three restrictions, such as restaurants, hotels and visitor attractions.
- Christmas Support Payments: These payments are for pubs that predominately serve alcohol rather than food and are an additional grant to supplement the above grant.
- Local Restrictions Discretionary Support Grant: this is for businesses in the hospitality, hotel, bed and breakfast and leisure industries that have been severely affected by the restrictions but do not qualify for the Local Restrictions Support Grant above.
Please note, the closing date to apply for these schemes is 31 March 2021.
Further information on these schemes is included below.
Local Restrictions Support Grant (for businesses forced to close)
Applications are now open for the Local Restrictions Support Grant (LRSG-closed) (Tier 3 Restrictions payments).
The LRSG-closed scheme aims to help hospitality businesses including pubs, restaurants, cafes and social clubs as well as hotels, B&B’s, guest houses, indoor entertainment and visitor attractions that were told to close to the public from the start of the national restrictions on 5 November and then remain closed from 2 December under the tier three restrictions.
Those businesses can now apply for a further fixed grant of £667, £1,000 or £1,500 for each 14 day tier three closure period that began on 2 December, with the grant amount depending on the rateable value of the premises.
The grant will be based on the rateable value of the property on the first full day of local restrictions. Those premises with a rateable value of £15,000 and under are eligible for £667, premises from £15,000 to £51,000 are eligible for £1,000 and premises with a rateable value of £51,000 and over are eligible for £1,500 for each 14 days qualifying period.
Fixed grants are now available for two 14 day periods businesses have remained closed under Tier 3 restrictions. These are as follows:
Period 1: 2 December to 16 December 2020
Period 2 : 17 December to 30 December 2020
If you have not yet made an application for the grant please apply for both periods 1 and 2, and if you have made a successful application for a grant under period 1 you are now invited to able to apply for a period 2 grant.
For severely affected businesses that do not have a rateable value or those that are not required to close but are unable to continue operating due to social distancing rules a separate discretionary grant scheme, known as the Local Restrictions Support Grant (open) will also be available shortly.
