Funding for Kegworth improvements extended for a year
The Parish and District Councils are pleased to announce that their request to the Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership (LLEP) to extend the availability of funding for improvements in the village has been approved. Originally the £500,000 from the Pooled Business Rates managed by the LLEP, plus £450,000 from North West Leicestershire District Council and £50,000 from Kegworth Parish Council, needed to spent by 31 March 2021. This has now been revised to 31 March 2022.
The extension provides time for completion of all the project’s different elements – work on Market Place, a new cycleway, the relocation of bus shelters and new gateways on the main routes into the village. All must still comply with the plans agreed to secure the LLEP funding which specify it must be used for public realm improvements.
More information about the project will be shared with businesses, residents and other interested parties in the coming months – with new designs for Market Place expected to be ready for publication in the summer. At that point people will be invited to give their views on the revised proposals. This feedback will inform the creation of the final Market Place designs. It is planned that these will be ready for implementation by autumn 2021.
