Call For Sites - June to August 2018

Between 25 June and 28 August 2018, we undertook a second call for sites (following one undertaken in 2016) to try and identify suitable land within the district for Gypsy, Traveller and Travelling Showpeople sites.  Although this consultation has now finished, if you are aware of a site that you think may be suitable (you do not necessarily need to own the site) then you can still send it in to us by completing a MS Word version of the Gypsy and Traveller Call for Sites Form (Word Document, 2.08 Mb)

Local Plan Advisory Committee Report - March 2018

A report was produced for the Council’s Local Plan Advisory Committee (LPAC) on 14 March 2018 which contained a proposed draft Gypsy and Traveller Site Allocation DPD alongside other associated documents (see links below).

Local Plan Advisory Committee Report

Appendix to LPAC report - Proposed publication version DPD.pdf (PDF Document, 0.86 Mb)

Gypsy and Traveller DPD - Proposed Sustainability Appraisal (PDF Document, 5.27 Mb)

Gypsy and Traveller DPD - Proposed Habitats Regulations Assessment (PDF Document, 0.69 Mb)

Gypsy and Traveller DPD - Proposed Equalities Impact Assessment (PDF Document, 0.33 Mb)

The report was then expected to go to Full Council on 20 March 2018 to seek approval for a period of public consultation on the draft DPD.

However the draft DPD stated that only one site had been found suitable for a potential Gypsy and Traveller transit site, and prior to the Council meeting a number of additional potential sites were informally put forward to the Council. To ensure that all potential sites were considered carefully, the report was removed from the 20 March Council agenda to allow another formal 'call for sites' exercise to be completed.

Regulation 18 Consultation/Call for Sites - February 2016

The first stage in the identification of potential Gypsy and Traveller sites was a ‘call for sites’ exercise and Gypsy and Traveller Site Allocation Consultation Document (PDF Document, 0.26 Mb) consultation that both took place between February and April 2016.
