We would strongly advise all customers who are building houses to take out some form of 10 year structural warranty, even if they do not need one as part of any finance agreement.
The warranties usually last for 10 years, and will be needed if the property is sold within that time frame.
We have had a number of customers who have built their dream 'retirement homes', and then decide to move only to find that they can't sell the property because of a lack of warranty.
A retrospective warranty is usually more expensive, and increasingly difficult to obtain, therefore we think it makes sense to have one from the beginning of the project. If nothing else it should give peace of mind.
