Local author Leanda de Lisle will be talking about her new book "Sisters who would be Queen" based on Lady Jane Grey and her sisters Katherine and Mary
Jeff Hawksworth lives locally and since finishing proper work has discovered a love of writing. So far in his "gap decade" he has published 5 novels. He will be talking about his experience of writing his latest book "the Tack Chest", an historical novel set in the farming communities of Hartshill, Mancetter and Atherstone areas.

The 1st World War had a catastrophic impact on the lives of millions of people, both on the battlefield and on the Home Front. It was also a time of tremendous social upheaval, bringing new opportunities and freedoms to many women, all of which had a dramatic impact in fashion.

Whitwick & District U3A General Meeting
Whitwick and District U3A General Meeting: it's "Chocks Away!" as our speaker, Dr Mark Edworthy, delivers his talk "Adventures of a Tiger Moth Pilot". Flying his vintage aeroplane has given him many interesting moments so we are anticipating an entertaining presentation. In addition, this is an opportunity to discover more about our friendly and thriving U3A. Please come along at 1.45 for a 2.00pm start at St David's Church Hall, Broomleys, Coalville. Alternatively, look out for our stand at Picnic in the Park where members will be available to answer any questions.

Open Gardens around the village, Scarecrow competition, Market Place - stalls selling local produce, Art Trail, Many children activities including duck racing, human fruit machine, garden crafts, Classic car & motorbike display, Live music and lots more! To celebrate the 800th anniversary of the document considered to be the bedrock of our democracy, MBF is hosting a light lecture by Professor Nigel Saul, Professor of Medieval History at the University of London and a member of the Magna Carta 800 Committee. Nigel will cover how the Magna Carta came about, why it matters, how it is connected to the origins of Parliament and how it affects us today.

Set in the Roaring 20`s at a prestigious college, Heartbreak Production's musical adaptation of Shakespeare`s Love`s Labours Lost promises to be a fun frolic through the life and loves of three young men. Initially foregoing food, sleep and their hectic socials life to enhance their pursuit of knowledge, all good intentions dissolve and distractions arise with the arrival of three delightful young ladies.
