These tours include a wide range of theatre, music opera, dance storytelling and poetry, children's theatre, puppetry and comedy theatre with members of the local community hosting the event. When possible and appropriate, allied participatory workshops are offered and these are placed in the local community.
All the shows listed are professional performances subsidised by District Councils:- Blaby, Charnwood, Harborough, Hinckley & Bosworth, Melton, North West Leicestershire, Oadby and Wigston and the two County Councils of Leicestershire and Rutland.
The scheme is co-ordinated by Nottinghamshire County Council on behalf of the Leicestershire and Rutland Arts Development Officers' Forum. Three Counties now make up the Leicestershire, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Rural Touring Partnership. The scheme is financially supported by the Arts Council East Midlands (Regionally Funded Organisation).
Three websites exist within the Partnership - www.villageventures.org (Nottinghamshire), www.lincsruraltouring.co.uk (Lincolnshire)

Groups select their shows, after which dates are allocated and a tour schedule produced, along with a seasonal leaflet. If you would like further information or would like to become a new promoter please contact Sue Berrisford on 0115 9774589 or email: artsadmin@nottsac.gov.uk
Centre Screen
Mobile Cinema for Leicestershire and Rutland
Centre Screen is part of Big Country, a publicly funded rural cinema network scheme, working across Leicestershire & Rutland. It is a community cinema scheme which enables you to show blockbuster or archive films in a venue on your doorstep.Volunteers within the community select their film, book the venue & sell the tickets & Centre Screen provides the technician & state of the art equipment to run the screening. It is managed by Phoenix Arts, Leicester.
Centre Screen can help you to choose your film, advise on how best to choose something for the type of audience you want to attract, set your ticket price, and create a poster template for your event.
Centre Screen will turn up with all the kit, set it up & run the film screening for you. They can also come & visit your venue beforehand to ensure all will run smoothly.
You need to book the venue, promote the event, sell the tickets and have people at the event to take tickets and serve any refreshments etc
Cost
The screenings cost you a small fee and you split the profit on the ticket sales (not the refreshments, raffle etc) 50-50 between yourselves & the scheme. The money returned to the scheme helps to maintain the kit & keep the costs down.
If you already have a projector, screen & speakers in your venue then Centre Screen can still support you in running a film event.
