We are committed to supporting our armed forces community – people who are currently serving, veterans and their families.

We do this in many different ways – by taking part in national events, like Remembrance Day  and Armed Forces Day, supporting important projects like the North West Leicestershire World War 1 Books and, very importantly, through our Armed Forces Community Covenant.

We also have advice relating to armed forces personnel, about Housing Benefit reductions for spare rooms, the benefit cap and Council Tax exemptions.

The Royal British Legion is inviting members of the Armed Forces community struggling with their fuel bills to apply for new emergency energy top up grants of up to £200 per month (£2,400 a year). The Everyday Needs Grants do not have to be paid back. If you're creceiving any means-tested state benefits, such as universal credit, pension credit or income support, you should qualify automatically. But you could still be eligible for a grant even if you don't get any benefits – the Royal British Legion will check your income and expenditure to assess your needs.
