Building Regulations Pre-Application Advice

We always encourage customers to talk to us before an application is made so that problems can be ironed out at an early stage.

Balancing the various regulations can be difficult, particulalry if you've decided not to follow the guidance in the Approved Documents, or if you haven't carried out building work before.

If you have a plan of the proposed work, then please e-mail it to building.control@nwleicestershire.gov.uk but please ensure the e-mail is no larger than 2MB and the file isn't 'zipped'. Unfortuanetly zipped files can hide viruses and our corporate system will block these types of files.

Alternatively, if you want to discuss issues on site, or for larger projects, would like to meet at your architects offices, then please contact us on 01530 454692 or 693.

Our pre-application advice is free, however on the rare occassion that we need to consult specialists we would seek to recover these costs, either by a direct recharge to you at the time of the pre-application advice, or by building the costs into the application charges.

Development Team Approach

If your need your pre-application advice to extend to 'Planning' and other related services such as the Fire Service, we can arrange a meeting between all parties. This is particulary relevent where Section 53 of the Leicestershire Act 1985 applies to your project (storage in excess of 7000m3)
