The Local Plan for North West Leicestershire
The North West Leicestershire Local Plan 1991-2006
The Local Plan for North West Leicestershire comprises the following documents:
- Adopted North West Leicestershire Local Plan
- The Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland Structure Plan
- The Leicestershire Minerals Local Plan
- The Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Waste Local Plan
The Local Plan sets out the planning strategy for the District up to 2006, provides the basis for particular proposals for new housing and employment areas and includes policies for the control of development. This was adopted on 22 August 2002 with three alterations subsequently adopted in 2004 and 2005.

If you would like a paper copy of the Local Plan (inc Maps) the cost for residents and businesses within the District is £20 + £3.30 p&p. For those outside the District the cost is £95.00 + £3.30 p&p.
SAVED POLICIES
Under the provisions of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004, policies in Local Plans are saved until 27th September 2007. The Council's Executive Board considered a report on the 19th December 2006 in respect of which policies the Council should ask the Secretary of State to save. Following this, the District Council made a request to the Secretary of State to save the agreed policies.
The Council has now been formally notified of which policies are saved. A schedule of the saved policies is available below.

Leicestershire, Leicester, and Rutland Structure Plan 1996-2016
Leicester, Leicester and Rutland Structure Plan 1996 – 2016 has Expired
The Regional Spatial Strategy (RSS) for the East Midlands was adopted in March 2009. The RSS replaces the Leicester, Leicester and Rutland Structure Plan 1996 – 2016 which has now expired, including the two previously extended policies Housing Policy 1 and Housing Policy 3.

Leicestershire Minerals and Waste Local Plan
The Leicestershire Minerals and Waste Local Plans were produced by Leicestershire County Council. As a result of reforms introduced by the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004, the Minerals and Waste Local Plans will each be replaced by a suite of development documents contained in new Minerals and Waste Development Frameworks. As the new documents emerge the existing Mineral Local Plan and Waste Local Plan will be replaced.
