Your Right to Review

Under section166A(9)(c) of the Housing Act 1996 you have the right to be informed of the grounds for our assessment and to request a review of the following decisons:

  • The decison that you are not eligible or do not qualify to join the Housing Register
  • Any decison that impacts on the allocations process (e.g housing need band, bedroom eligibility, eligiblity for certain properties)

Our decisons are based on the criteria and guidance within our Allocation Policy. When we review a decison we look at whether our original decision(s) followed our Policy.

The Council's Allocation Policy

You should request a review within 21 days of receiving the decison

Please complete the relevant form to request a review. You can also request a review by phoning or emailing us but we will require the information within the form before we can action your request. If you have any supporting documents that confirm why our decison was incorrect then please provide them by email at the same time as your review request.

New Information or a Change of Circumstances

Please note that a review is not the same as a change of circumstances or new information. If your application has been accepted but either your circumstances have changed or you have additional information about your needs that was not available to us at the time of assessment then we will not undertake a formal review but we will reassess your application and inform you of the outcome.

The Review Process

We aim to complete reviews within 15 days of receiving your request. The review will be undertaken by someone who was not involved with the original decison. There are additional steps that can be taken if you do not agree with the outcome of the review. These are detailed in section 4 of the Allocation Policy.
