If you think that your vehicle should have passed its depot inspection or that the re-test fee has been unfairly charged you have the option to appeal the decision.

To do this you must send a letter or email to the Licensing Team Leader explaining why you think the vehicle was incorrectly failed or why the re-test shouldn't be applied. This must reach us within 10 working days of the date of the vehicle inspection.

Please note you cannot appeal if your vehicle failed the examination and the defect(s) were classed as a ‘failure – minor defect’.

Once your letter or email has been received we will investigate your appeal and you may be asked to bring your vehicle to the Council Offices/ Council Depot for a further inspection. The Licensing Team Leader’s decision will be final.
