Top tasks:

Most homes are subject to Council Tax. Each has been allocated to one of eight bands based on the capital value of the property on 1st April 1991. We don't set these bands - that's done by the national Valuation Office Agency.

The valuation bands are:

Bands Values
A Up to and including £40,000
B £40,001 to £52,000
C £52,001 to £68,000
D £68,001 to £88,000
E £88,001 to £120,000
F £120,001 to £160,000
G £160,001 to £320,000
H More than £320,000

The actual amount of Council Tax payable varies according to the valuation band.

Appeals against your valuation banding or any other queries, should be referred to: Valuation Office Agency

Telephone: 03000 501501

Making an appeal does not allow you to withhold your payments. If an appeal is successful you will be entitled to a refund if you've overpaid.
