The legislation regarding lotteries is covered by the Gambling Act 2005.

Venues in the district that want to promote or sell fund raising lotteries before an event need to register for a Small Lottery. There is a fee of £40 to register and an annual renewal fee of £20. You will be informed before the renewal date that the renewal fee is due.

To qualify for a small lottery it must be:

  • Promoted for a non-commercial society
  • A small society (the proceeds must be less than £20,000)

After the completion of every lottery the society should send a completed returns declation form to us.
