Current Local Housing Allowance (LHA) rates and broad rental market areas
Every council is divided into 'broad rental market areas' (BRMA).
These are based on a geographical area and access to services such as hospitals, schools and shopping.
They are usually based on postcode and are set by the Rent Service (Valuation Office Agency).
North West Leicestershire falls in to three areas - Leicester and surrounds, Eastern Staffordshire and Derby.
The Valuation Office Agency sets LHA rates for each area - so you know the amount of rent that LHA will cover. These rates are reviewed once a year in April.
The table shows the weekly LHA rate from April 2024 for each BRMA in North West Leicestershire:
BRMA | Shared room rate | 1 bedroom | 2 bedrooms | 3 bedrooms | 4 bedrooms |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Leicester and surrounds |
£91.00 | £124.27 | £149.59 | £178.36 | £241.64 |
Eastern Staffordshire |
£73.95 | £113.92 | £138.08 | £166.85 |
£226.87 |
Derby |
