Whitwick and Coalville Leisure Centre Timeline

We are building a new £22.5 million leisure centre in Coalville - find out more about the project.

Below is a timeline, including images and updates as the project progresses before its completion late 2022.

Timeline

Mechanical and Electrical Works

Duration - 16 weeks

02/08/2022 – 18/11/2022

The mechanical and electrical works are connecting and installing the gas water and electrics to the building. On this project this will include installing acoustic boards inside the sports hall.

Internal Structure

Duration - 27 weeks

07/03/2022 – 17/11/2022

The internal structure will start when the external structure has been constructed. The internal structure includes the internal blockwork, partition walls and the internal fit out and finishes.

External Structure

Duration - 39 weeks

23/03/2021 – 21/12/2021

The external structure will be steel framing with a brick and feature cladding façade. This will include the installation of concrete slabs for flooring and stairs towers, the roofing of the structure and its associated beams

Substructure

Duration – 20 weeks

05/01/2021 – 21/05/2021

This includes creating the foundations ensuring it is safe and stable. The works will also include the construction of the leisure centre’s pool and its pipe work.

This photo shows the completed bridge to the left which will have the finish layer of tarmac added towards the end of works on site. In the middle of the photo you can see the progress being made to the entrance plaza and car parking.

W/C 2 November 2020:

View from the west of the site showing the attenuation tank to the south and the pool bases to the north.

Shows the bridge now completed for use with only the final decorative finishes to be added. You can also see the temporary site set up, which will be moved onto the car park when complete.

Works progressing well with the major part of the works being the start of the construction of the access road and bridge to the site with foundations and generally setting out the site for the overall construction.

Site Clearance & Preparation Works

Duration - 18 weeks

27/07/2020 – 30/11/2020

This includes clearing the site so it is ready to be developed on. This also includes the associated works with the water course ensuring it will not disrupt future works.
