District council services
We have robust preparations in place and our priority is to keep all our key services running and support our communities in every way we can.
We’ll post regular updates on this page to keep you informed of how our services are running.
Please remember that services such as education, roads and adult social care are services provided by Leicestershire County Council.
Customer services and contacting us
Our council offices remain closed to visitors in the interests of the health and wellbeing of staff and customers - we are prioritising phone and email contact. If absolutely essential you may be offered a face to face appointment.
Many of our services are available online through MyAccount - this is the quickest and easiest way to access the majority of our services.
Alternatively, please contact us on 01530 454545 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org - our lines are open between 8.45 am and 5pm Monday to Friday except Thursdays when we are open 9.30am and 5pm.
Vehicle breakdowns, Covid outbreaks and the sheer volume of post-Christmas waste is putting a lot of pressure on our waste teams currently.
Our teams are working harder than ever and we’re pleased to say our waste and recycling collections are not affected.
In the short term we may be a little slower collecting the fly tips you report, delivering new bins you request and have longer wait times on bulky waste collections.
Please bear with us – and please don’t litter or fly tip! If you see offences committed – still report them online – we may just be a little slower at responding than normal. Thank you for your support.
Unemptied red boxes? Due to recent health and safety concerns, glass will only be collected when it is separated from your plastic/cans/tins. Find out more.
Please note, we are unable to take side or additional waste next to black bins. We are not able to offer this as we only have the staffing and operational capacity to empty waste from inside black bins. We thank customers for their understanding.

Please also see our webpages for useful information that may help with your housing situation.
Please note that we are not able to issue food bank vouchers at this time but you can contact local food banks direct to ask for support.
For out of hours emergencies only please call 01530 454789
Choice Based Lettings Update
We are only advertising social housing through our Choice Based Lettings Scheme on a limited basis. If any properties do become available and cannot be matched to someone in urgent need then they will be advertised on a Thursday as per normal.
We advise that people seeking housing check the website regularly to see if properties have become available. Please note that it may take longer than normal for bids to be processed and an offer to be made. Property viewings and tenancy start dates are also affected by the current situation.
New applications to join the Council’s Choice Based Lettings Scheme are still being taken although it is taking longer than 10 working days to process applications and review supporting evidence.
Parks, playgrounds and outdoor gyms
Our parks and playgrounds are open for everyone to safely enjoy. If you are using these spaces please ensure you a following Government social distancing and hygiene advice.

Eligible staff can get a free Government parking pass from their employer, NHS Trust or the Royal Volunteering Society.
If you are struggling to obtain a free parking pass from your employer and you think you are eligible, please contact us by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 01530 454545 and we will assist you.
