Housing Strategy Options

We have developed a number of options for how much housing development might need to be provided for and how this might then be distributed across the district. To help inform a decisions on these matters we have commissioned a Sustainability Appraisal of the Housing Spatial Options (September 2022). As agreed at Local Plan Committee on 12 July 2022, this version includes an additional option, Option 10.

Employment Strategy Options

We have developed a number of options for how employment land might then be distributed across the district. These have been tested through a Employment Options Interim Sustainability Appraisal (September 2022). As agreed at Local Plan Committee on 12 July 2022, this version includes an additional option, Option 2a.

A report on the Housing options was considered by the Local Plan Committee on 27 October 2021.

Scoping Report to 2039

Between 16 March and 22 May 2020 the Council consulted on a revised Scoping Report for the Sustainability Appraisal (SA) (incorporating Equality Impact Assessment and Health Impact Assessment) of the North West Leicestershire Local Plan Substantive Review.

The Scoping Report provides detailed baseline information on the environmental, social and economic characteristics of the plan area and its role is to promote sustainable development by assessing the extent to which the emerging plan, when judged against reasonable alternatives, will help to achieve relevant environmental, economic and social objectives.

We consulted on a previous version of the Scoping Report in September 2018 – however we re-consulted as we are now proposing that the Substantive Review will cover an extended period up to 2039 (it was previously proposed to run to 2036) so the Scoping Report has had to be updated to take account of this extended period.
