When we decide individual planning applications, we assess them against our local planning policies.
Following national policy rules, we must set out how we want the district to develop over the long-term.
Our Planning Policy Team is responsible for producing our plans - setting out where we will allow new homes to be built and businesses to be established.
We have been working with the other Leicester and Leicestershire authorities to agree how the issue of unmet housing and employment need from Leicester city can be addressed. A Statement of Common Ground and supporting documents have been prepared which can be viewed on the Strategic Growth Plan webpage.
The District Council agreed the Statement of Common Ground at the meeting of Council on 6 September 2022.
We are currently consulting on our Air Quality Supplementary Planning Document and on a First Homes Interim Policy Statement. Further details can be found on the Supplementary Planning Documents & Other Guidance page.
