When we decide individual planning applications, we assess them against our local planning policies.
Following national policy rules, we must set out how we want the district to develop over the long-term.
Our Planning Policy Team is responsible for producing our plans - setting out where we will allow new homes to be built and businesses to be established.
Update
We have been working with the other Leicester and Leicestershire authorities to agree how the issue of unmet housing and employment need can be addressed. A Statement of Common Ground has been prepared which will be considered by each authority over the next few months. The Statement of Common Ground and supporting documents can be viewed on the Strategic Growth Plan webpage.
The District Council will consider the Statement of Common Ground at the following meetings:
- Local plan Committee – 25 May 2022
- Cabinet – 7 June 2022
- Council – 21 June 2022
