An enhanced DBS application must accompany your driver licence application form. Your enhanced DBS certificate will be checked every 6 months.  Therfore you are recommended to sign up to the DBS update service.  Further details on the DBS update service can be found at the bottom of this page.

There are strict rules about the types of identification you need to provide for your DBS. Please see the relevant guidance on GOV.UK

From August 2021 we will no longer be a countersignatory for DBS applications. We have moved this service to an external provider called Care Check, which will allow you to complete your application online.

New applications

If you do not have an Enhanced DBS, then you will need to complete an online application. Please follow the instructions below to apply.

Please note, you will need to answer YES to the following questions when completing the form:

  • Will you be working with adults in a regulated activity?
  • Will you be working with Children in a regulated activity?

  1. Enter the company Organisation Reference -  NWLEICSLICENSING                      
  2. You do NOT need an organisation code for this section, please leave BLANK
  3. Acknowledge you have read the “Statement of Fair processing”.  
  4. Proceed to fill out information requested
  5. Ensure your application is for an ENHANCED DBS CHECK
  6. Give consent to the information you have provided
  7. Make the payment of £47.85 (inclusive of VAT & admin)
  8. Once your online application has been completed you will be sent an invitation to perform your ID validation online. You will receive an email from IDSP partner trust ID telling you to confirm your identity. You will then be asked to have the correct documents required to complete the digital ID route.   9. You can monitor your application online and you will receive your certificate through the post to your home address.

Renewal applications

If you are applying for a renewal licence you will need to check that your DBS is still valid.  If it has expired or is due to expire you will need to submit a new DBS application following the instructions above.

Update Service

DBS also have an 'Update Service' which means that you can subscribe to have your criminal record kept up to date for £13 per year. This means that drivers will have a portable Disclosure Certificate, eliminates the risk of missing renewal dates, and allows us to check suitability online.
